How does One Feather Consulting, LLC. (and network affiliates) offer culturally sensitive EAP services?
All EAP network affiliates are required to have an annual in-service training from One Feather Consulting, LLC.. The training will be conducted by One Feather Consulting, LLC.’s core affiliates. Core affiliates are Native and non-Native, female and male professionals who are professors, doctors, and licensed human service providers and have years of experience working with culturally diverse populations, including Native peoples. The purpose of the training will be to familiarize network affiliate providers with One Feather Consulting, LLC.’s mission, goals, and provide professional training in the arena of working with ethnically diverse cultures including: American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Americans, Indigenous Populations, and First Nation Peoples.

Our FOUNDER

Rodney C. Haring, PhD, LMSW, Founder and owner of One Feather Consulting, LLC. is an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and resides on the Cattaraugus Reservation.  He holds a doctoral degree in social welfare at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is also a New York State Licensed Master of Social Work and has evaluation intern experience from Harvard Medical School, the State University of New York at Buffalo, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  In relation to working with Native American people in occupational settings, Dr. Haring was the former director of the Seneca Nation of Indians Vocational Readiness Program and sat on the United States Department of Labor, Welfare to Work Tribal Workgroup Organization in Washington, D.C. 

Further, Dr. Haring has trained at Salish Kootenai College in the state of Washington specializing in the area of Native American employment and training and was a caseworker at Native American Community Services Urban Center of Buffalo, New York.  He is a member of the Native Researchers Network, Society of Social Work Research and is the recipient of the Seneca Nation of Indians Professional Scholarship, Chief Freeman Johnson Scholar Award, and an American Indian Graduate Center Fellow.  Academic training in research and evaluation procedures include classes in qualitative program evaluation, clinical psychology research methods, social personality research methods, social work research methods, advanced sociological statistical techniques, advanced qualitative research, and Internet research.

Staffing & Core Affiliates:

BARBARA GENERAL, LMSW, PhD Student (Onondaga)
Barbara General is from the Six Nations Reservation and is an Onondaga, of the beaver clan. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Buffalo State College and a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University at Buffalo. She currently attends the University at Buffalo, School of Social Work, PhD program in Social Welfare. She is in her last semester of course work. Barbara has over 15 years of experience in the human services field and has predominately worked in aboriginal communities both on the reservation and in the urban settings. Her areas of interest are crisis intervention, community development, education and prevention, and family violence. Barbara’s research interest and dissertation work is focused on violence against Native American women in New York State. She has three sons and they currently reside in Fort Erie, Ontario.

WARREN SKYE, JR., (Tonawanda Seneca/Deer Clan), ABD, LMSW
Warren Skye, Jr., serves as Outreach Specialist for the Adult Educational Opportunity Center sponsored by Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY. As a professor, he has served as Field Director for the Keuka College Social Work Program, as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Social Work Program at SUNY Brockport and as Lecturer at Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY. Mr. Skye also served as Native American outreach coordinator for the Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse in Batavia. Warren’s publications, research, and practice interests focus on issues related to diversity, poverty, and health and wellness. Mr. Skye is active on several professional boards at the local, state, and national levels; all of which are related to social work practice, diversity, and social policy for underserved populations. He currently serves as Chair of the Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC) of the New York State Office of Mental Health. Is at ABD status with SUNY Buffalo’s Social Welfare Program in the School of Social Work, has the MSW from SUNY Buffalo, BS in Social Work from Rochester Institute of Technology, and the AS in Human Services from Genesee Community College.

PAUL GRAY, LMSW, Corrections Counselor
For many years Paul worked as building contractor and structural iron worker. As time progressed he turned his attention to the world of academics and began to become concerned about the many social problems around him. He made a decision to personally get involved to change some of the social problems he saw. Paul went to college and graduated with honors with his masters degree focusing in clinical social work. Upon completion of his masters, he was invited to serve as adjunct professor from the university from which he graduated. Currently, Paul is active in many community issues which utilize his training in mental health and substance abuse. In his 16 years of social work practice, he has provided a great deal of pro-bono work for indigent peoples. At present, Paul works with inmates in the NYS Department of Corrections as a corrections counselor. In this capacity, Paul has given numerous presentations to enhance the rehabilitation process of inmates. Previous experience includes being a senior clinician at the Turning Point half-way house located in the Southern Tier and Bry-Lin Hospital in Buffalo.

BERNARD A. HUBER, LCSW
Bernard A. Huber is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in practice since 1986. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Buffalo State College and his Master’s degree from State University of New York at Buffalo. Mr. Huber has worked in the field of child psychiatry, chemical dependency, and family therapy. He worked as the Clinical Director of Native American Community services and was most recently the Director of Family Counseling and Employee Assistance Programs at Family & Children’s Service in Niagara Falls. Mr. Huber has a private practice in Niagra Falls, N.Y. and was a part-time professor where he began teaching in1997. Current specialty areas of Mr. Huber’s include substance abuse, critical incident stress debriefing, trauma treatment, couples counseling, and anger management. He resides in Lewiston, New York.

JUNE A. VAN EVERY-HUBER, LMSW (Upper River Cayuga / Oneida)
June A. VanEvery-Huber, LMSW (Licensed Master of Social Work), is an enrolled member of the Upper River Cayuga tribe of Six Nation Reservation. She is of the Turtle Clan. June obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Niagara University and her Master’s degree from State University of New York at Buffalo. June worked for many years as an Intensive Home-Based Counselor for Native American Community Services in Buffalo. June also worked for the Tuscarora Community Health Workers Program in affiliation with Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department as a Domestic Violence Advocate. June is presently employed by Niagara Wheatfield School District as a School Social Worker at Tuscarora Elementary School. She resides in Lewiston, New York.

WENDY S. HARING, (Cattaraugus Seneca/Wolf Clan)
Wendy has been the Office Manager with One Feather Consulting, LLC since 2002.  She has maintained record keeping, reporting compliances, quality assurance measures, employee satisfaction evaluation and reporting, and overall office cohesion.  She is a proud mother of two, auntie to many, and resides on the Cattaraugus Territory of the Seneca Nation of Indians.

NANCY L. SCOTT

Nancy L. Scott is an enrolled member of the Seneca of Indians from the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. She is of the turtle clan. Nancy obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in November 2008. She is currently awaiting her Certificate in Nonprofit Management from WSU as well. Nancy interned at WSU’s Office of Development and the Greater Dayton Better Business Bureau to enhance her knowledge of nonprofit management. She founded and operated a nonprofit support group for people suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder in Dayton Ohio for four years. She was an active community member where she lived in Ohio but now resides in western NY. She currently serves as Adjutant for The American Legion Iroquois Post 1587. She was honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1993. She also has an AAS degree in Architectural Technology. A book was recently released highlighting Nancy’s life, the difficulties she has faced and how she overcame them.
